The Pocono Mountain Express excursion train is being operated as one of the many events at the 2018 Key Lock & Lantern Convention. If you are interested in attending any of the other events during the weekend, it is more cost-effective to register for the convention and select the train ride as one of your activities. The Pocono Mountain Express will operate on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Boarding will begin at 9:30am behind the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton, PA (Note that this is NOT the platform for Steamtown or the Trolley Museum). The train will depart at 10:00am. The first stop will be at Gouldsboro, PA from 11:15am to 12:15pm for a visit to the historical museum in the depot and a photo runby. Arrival at Tobyhanna, PA will be at 12:30pm. Passengers will be able to visit the museum in the depot and tour the old railroad signal tower, along with photo opportunities. A light lunch will be available for purchase. Departure from Tobyhanna is at 1:45pm. On the return trip, there will be a photo runby at the Nay Aug Tunnel. Arrival back in Scranton is scheduled for 4:00pm (but plan for the possibility of delays).

The train will be pulled by two historic Alco diesel locomotives, restored to their original paint schemes from their prior owners, the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the Delaware & Hudson Railway. Passengers may ride in a former Erie Lackawanna air-conditioned "Comet" coach, a former Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad caboose, or the Erie Lackawanna observation car #2. All cars are owned by the host freight railroad and are "historic" equipment which is not constructed to ADA standards. Therefore, climbing steps is required and the limited onboard restroom facilities are small. There will be no onboard food service.

Tickets may be purchased online using Paypal or a credit card (through Paypal). Click on the "add to cart" button below for the desired ticket, and the Paypal window will appear. Select the number of tickets to be purchased and follow the onscreen instructions to check out. Please print a copy of your Paypal receipt - this will serve as your boarding pass. Any unsold tickets will also be available for purchase (cash or check only) at the KL&L Transportation History Expo on Saturday, June 2nd, but it is recommended to purchase online in advance to avoid disappointment.
